2018 US National Indoor Skydiving Championship Wrap-Up and Final Results

For the second consecutive year iFLY Va. Beach hosted the 2018 US National Indoor Skydiving Championship. The three-day event had 84 teams and 112 athletes participate in 14 different events, with the first place team/individual from five events – Dynamic 2-Way Open, Dynamic 4-Way Open, Freestyle Junior Open, Freestyle Open, VFS 4-Way Open – qualifying for the 2018 FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving (WISC) in Bahrain. International athletes and athletes below age qualifications were allowed to participate in events, however, only qualified athletes were allowed to advance to the WISC. Brother and sister Kaleigh, 14, and Noah, 11, Wittenburg led team iFLY Aspire to a dominant showing in the Dynamic 2-Way Open posting a perfect score of 600 in the six-round event. Despite the victory, the siblings will not be allowed to compete at this event in Bahrain, due to the 18 years or older qualification.  Kaleigh went on to take first place in the Freestyle Open as well with a score of

Connell brings more than 20 years of experience and proven leadership in skydiving competition, judging/judge training, and event management to our team. “The goal is to develop and advance the rapidly evolving sport of indoor skydiving by drawing on decades of experience in similar sports, while also innovating to provide a competition framework uniquely suited to this worldwide, all-ages activity,” Connell said. “I am excited and ready to take on the challenge!”  As Director of Operations, Connell will lead in all aspects of daily operations, long-term planning, and development of various programs. “Randy is a strategic hire who will have an instant impact on the quality and growth of the sport” said Robert Pizzini, USIS Executive Director. U.S. Indoor Skydiving Designated as NAA Air Sport Organization

Washington, D.C., April 23, 2018 – The National Aeronautic Association (NAA), the official air sport authority in the United States, is pleased to announce that U.S. Indoor Skydiving has been named as the designated air sport organization (ASO) for the purposes of official Federation Aeronautique Internationale competitions and record attempts in the sport of indoor skydiving. U.S. Indoor Skydiving will work with the NAA, the International Parachute Commission, and the Federation Aeronautic International to further develop and advance this exciting air sport. U.S. Indoor Skydiving becomes the seventh recognized American ASO, along with the Academy of Model Aeronautics, Balloon Federation of America, International Aerobatic Club, Soaring Society of America, U.S. Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association and the U.S. Parachute Association.
